July 8, 2024Eurovelo 7 - Day 0 Flew from SFO to met up with my college friend Dennis in Copenhagen, he flew from Reno. We're planning to bike from Copenhagen to Berlin over the next 10 days. Just before boarding my flight, I checked the seat map and found 5 empty rows at the back of the plane, so I had a whole row to myself and got a nice bed to sleep on; better than 1st class if you ask me! We landed around 1:30 in the afternoon, and checked into our hotel (Clarion) across the street from the airport. My bike box arrived without a scratch on it. I'll store my bike box here at the hotel until I fly home. Dennis is renting a one-way bike and panniers from CPH to BER, it's only around $300 for the 10 days; about the same as it cost to bring my bike on the plane round trip. onewaybiketours.com Today we're just walking around Nyhaven and Tivoli Gardens. Tivoli is one of the world's oldest amusement parks, 180 years old! You can see where Disney got their ideas from! Weather is beautiful, especially after the 100 deg days we had in California. We had a freak thunderstorm and pouring rain for 10 minutes tonight eating dinner, then back to sunny skies. Took a power nap in the Tivoli gardens beanbag area; Europeans know how to properly relax! |
