Day 1 - Copenhagen (Klampenborg) to Koge

Eurovelo 7 - Day 1 - Klampenborg to Koge

Breakfast at our hotel, Clarion Copenhagen Airport was amazing, probably the best breakfast buffet I've seen. Hotel was € 216 and they are letting me keep my bike box there for two weeks while we bike to Berlin. Excited that I have 2 more nights here.

We took the Regional train North to Klampenborg to pick up the bike that Dennis rented. The train had spots for probably 50 bikes. The bike shop didn't open till 10a, but they helped us out early, and we were on the road by 9:30a.

It was about an hour bike ride South back to Copenhagen. There are lots of dedicated bike bridges short-cutting you across town, they take biking serious here! Ikea has rental Bakfeit (Cargo bikes) to bring oversized items home. There are handrails and foot rests at some of the stop lights so you can lean on them while waiting, without getting off your bike. All the bike paths are super smooth, and flat; wind and rain haven't been an issue so far.

Along the coastal section, the trail is lined with wild flowers, and beautiful white sand beaches. Lots of old buildings to admire, and there is no trash anywhere to be seen. With the exception of graffiti on one train, the city has been graffiti free as well. Even when bikes are in a bike rack, they don't lock the bike to the rack, they just lock the rear wheel. Most bikes are just sitting out, but nobody takes them.

Our hotel for the night was Comwell Køge Strand, in Koge; $120.
