July 18, 2024More roaming around Berlin, mostly around Bernauer Strass where there's a big exhibit on the Berlin wall, and some of the tunnels dug underneath. They had a section staged with all the fencing, barriers, watch towers, and spotlights; along with a platform you can climb across the street to see a top down vantage point. They thought of everything building these barriers, with dogs on cables, racked gravel to show foot prints, motion sensors, secret alarms that warn guards if a fence is touched, barbed wire, secondary fencing, guard towers with shoot to kill orders... On a happier note, had breakfast at one of my favorite Breakfast cafes Cafe Anna Blume, in the baby stroller district of Berlin (Prenzlauer Berg). Lunch at a Biergarten Schleusenkrug in the Tiergarden. Had dinner at another favorite restaurant King King, I got the grilled salmon with coconut curry and rice noodles (#55), amazing! After dinner we saw a live band playing swing music. Pretty fun, full day! Happy to see Swing still going strong in Berlin! http://www.swinginberlin.de/ |
